Rob and Gill bought the St Johns Inn at the end of June 2017 and had a grand opening on the 26th August with one of the elder residents ‘Ernie’ performing the honour of cutting the ribbon.
The pub has been well supported by the local community and is going from strength to strength.
They serve 2 Real Ales which change every week and can be anything from a 3.5% ‘quaffing’ bitter to a luxurious 5.6% chocolate Porter.
Bass on draught as a permanent feature and also Theakstons’ Mild
There are 2 premium largers from Czech and also 3 ciders on tap.
All the ales, largers and ciders are £3 pint.
Numerous spirits and soft drinks are also available along with crisps, nuts, pork scratchings, pickled eggs and cockles & mussels.
There is now a lovely piano in the pub and anyone is welcome to come in and play.

Camping – The pub is now licensed for camping for up to 10 tents. A basic site in the paddock beyond the pub garden with the use of the outside toilets and a fresh water supply. Hopefully to have a shower by next year. Electric hook-up points available throughout most of the site.

Upcoming events –
Fridays – fish and chips plus much more prepared and served by Phil et al in the marquee at the front of the pub. Eat in, out or take away. Cooked fresh to order 5.30pm – 8.30pm.
Last friday of the month – pub quiz night. Starts at 8pm, non serious, small prize to the winning team with the losing team preparing and hosting the next quiz to keep things fresh and exciting.
Saturday 9th March – Music from Richard James 9-11pm
Thursday 2nd May – Morris Dancing from the Cornish Wreckers. An evening performance.
Saturday 1st June – Appalachian Dancing from Soft Option, who will be staying on the campsite as they are travelling from afar.
19th – 20th October – Apple festival weekend. The mobile apple press will be available for anyone to bring their apples to produce juice (or cider) over the weekend. There will also be a pasteuriser available to sterilise your own bottles. Music from Blu Soule on Saturday evening. Watch this space for more updates
